Red Fleet at Rest in Valletta Harbor By Salvatore Colacicco

Salvatore Colacicco is a world-renowned marine artist who was born in 1935 in Bellagio, near Lake Como and studied at Brera Academy, Milan. He has been living in England for over thirty years. Nearly all Salvatore’s paintings during that time have been exported to the United States. These now adorn the walls of many a Board Rooms and Directors Office throughout the United States. Colacicco's traditional style of painting is influenced by the Marine artists of the 18th and 19th century with his own distinctive style. Among Colacicco's achievements are 26 panels illustrating the history and development of the paddle steamer, (of which he had made a special study of those used on the Italian Lakes), painted for the Russell Cotes Museum in Bournemouth. He has painted Schooners, Steamers, Yachts, Lake Como, Malta, British coastal scenes and Historical Man-O- War Marine Engagements.

This painting, C. 1990, depicts the British Red Fleet resting in Valletta Harbor, Malta. The ship in the foreground is one of the ten ships from the HMS Victory series. It measures 68 in – 173 cm in width, 44 ½ in – 113 cm high and 3 in – 7.5 cm deep, with an ornate carved gilt wood frame.

Pair of 19th C. French Bronze and Gilt Bronze Candelabras – This very attractive pair of French bronze and gilt bronze candelabras feature a pair of poising cherubs on a very decorative floral centre stem and heavily scrolled base. The top half of the candelabras can be removed to be used for a single taper candle.

They each measure 11 in – 28 cm in width, 7 in – 18 cm deep and 15 ½ in – 39.4 cm in overall height.

This beautiful pair of French ormolu and glass tazzas, C. 1860, feature a striking blue green glass pair of dishes on top of poising cherubs resting on very detailed bases.

The dishes measure 7 ½ in – 19 cm in diameter and stand 11 ¾ in – 30 cm in overall height.

A superb late summer English landscape depicting a traveler returning home at dusk, encased by a hand carved gilt wood frame of an extremely high quality. Both pieces date to the 18th c., c.1780, the painting, a true country house picture and the frame a very stately home one.

It measures 55 in – 139.8 cm wide, 46 in – 117 cm high and 4 in – 10 cm deep, including the frame. The picture opening measures 42 ¾ in – 108.5 cm by 33 ¾ in – 86 cm.

A very decorative, detailed and colorful late 19th C. French porcelain lamp painted in the Japanese style, depicting various oriental figures with dragons against an ivory background. The ginger jar shaped table lamp is from the Sampson factory and is set on a gilt bronze base with a height of 21 ½ inches – 57 cm high and a diameter of 26 ½ inches - 67.3 cm at the widest point.
